20 Days From The End of 2013
We are nearing the end of this year, and I wanted to make sure you knew just how incredible a year it’s been. Right now we are averaging 5,247 in Morning Worship for the year – largest ever. Giving is at an all-time high. We’ve added 760 new members, 432 by baptism. We have the largest number of our own young people in Bible College with 29 students and another 23 more committed to go. We took the largest number of students ever to the International Conference On Missions: 48; had the largest community outreach in our history with over 1,000 of our people serving on the same day, and have the largest number of volunteers serving each week: over 1,400. The largest number of kids ever attended church camp this past summer: over 1,000. We also had the largest ever Vacation Bible School: 1,915; and had our largest ever Hallelujah Carnival with 9,225 attending.
We hosted SuperStart again and had over 1,200 4th-6th graders on our campus. Over 1,000 kids are participating in our Crossroads Sports® program this year. We have the largest number of adults participating in small groups now: over 1,200; and had the largest Easter weekend ever with 16,116 in attendance. We had the largest food drive ever; helped more needy families through our Helping Hands ministry than ever before; and broke ground for our New Children’s Building, which is completely debt free! We also gave all the funds for an addition to be built on the Christian school in Piedras Negras, Mexico, a new New Youth Center and a New Hospital Wing to be built in Damoh, India; and our leaders decided to double our support for all of our missionaries beginning January 1.
CHRISTMAS for OTHERS
One of the greatest opportunities we have every year to help others comes with the annual CHRISTMAS FOR OTHERS ANGEL TREE project, where families in need who attend Crossroads receive help and encouragement. We have a number of angels who need sponsors. If you would like to sponsor an “angel,” we need you to come by the office and pick that up sometime before 5:00 p.m. this Friday. All gifts need to be turned in by this Sunday in the Doulos auditorium. If God has blessed you where you can bless others, we’d appreciate your help.
CHRISTMAS is the Season of GIVING
Each year at Christmastime people ask if they can give a year-end gift for any special projects. You can click on the button to the right, Crossroads’ Top Ten Christmas Needs, to see what projects are available. If God has blessed you where you can donate one or more of those items, that would be a tremendous blessing. We are also upgrading giving options at Crossroads in 2014 with online giving, mobile giving and giving boxes (see picture below).
With more and more of our people giving online and fewer carrying cash or having a checkbook when they come to worship, one of the things we will be doing in the new year is having giving boxes in our auditorium rather than passing offering bags at every service. You will always have the opportunity to give at every service by placing your tithe/offering in one of the secure giving boxes conveniently located in our main auditorium.
Giving boxes are actually very biblical (see Mark 12:41-44 and Luke 21:1). We believe giving boxes will allow us to give more worshipfully, eliminating any potential embarrassment online givers may have passing an offering bag to others without placing something in the bag when, in fact, they have already given. Giving is an act of worship, whether online or in person. Online giving is simple to set up through your own financial institution, and we encourage everyone to try it.
This Sunday will be AWESOME
This Sunday morning we’ll continue our new Christmas series, THE GREAT CHARACTERS OF CHRISTMAS, with message #2. (Click here for a preview.) And Sunday night at 6:30 our children will present an incredible CHRISTMAS musical called WE THREE SPIES. You’re going to love watching and hearing over 200 children as they share one of the most creative Christmas musicals you’ve ever heard. Come early to get a good seat.
It’s been a very good year, and Sunday will be a very good day!
See you here!
