We are still celebrating Crossroads’ DAY OF SERVICE from this past Saturday. Over 1,000 of Crossroads’ family participated in 44 different projects in three different cities: Mansfield, Arlington and Grand Prairie. It was obvious God was up to something as we pulled onto the campus and saw so many cars. Then, to walk into the lobby and main auditorium and see all the orange shirts. Wow!
Andy and our praise team led us in a time of worship. Joel gave us final instructions, prayed and the building emptied as people headed out into the community to share the love of Christ. We’ve heard story after story of people talking about the heart, spirit, work ethic and attitude of our people. One of the responses that captured the essence of the others came from the Special Projects Manager for the City of Grand Prairie, Tammy Chan. She sent an email that said:
“So far, everyone I’ve talked to on my side is blown away! Everyone is saying how hard your volunteers worked and how sincere they were about helping. No job was too hard. Some continued working in the rain!
We couldn’t have asked for better workers!
We definitely want to partner together again!
I’ve got some amazing photos. We need to share photos.
This has probably been the best work day I’ve ever coordinated in 15 years – mostly because of the genuine desire to help that everyone showed.”
I want to personally thank Joel Cogdell, who leads our CONNECT GROUPS, and Brian Carter, who leads our missions' outreach from our staff, for all the work they did organizing and administrating this event. I know there were many others who worked alongside of them as well. Over 900 of those who participated in our DAY OF SERVICE are members of CONNECT GROUPS at Crossroads and that’s one of the reasons why this was such a successful event.
If you want to see more photos and responses concerning our DAY OF SERVICE, you can check out Crossroads' Connect Group Page on Facebook.
I’d love for all of our people to get involved in a CONNECT GROUP and to join us in our next DAY OF SERVICE.
In Mark 10:43, Jesus said, “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant.”
“It is when we forget ourselves that we do things that are most likely to be remembered.” #CCCDayOfService
