Here’s an excellent article on an explosive subject.
How’d we get here?
John MacArthur says: “While the shift toward affirming homosexuality seemed to happen rapidly, it was actually the fruit of decades of shallow preaching, cultural accommodation, and theological cowardice.”
Some will say, “Can’t we all just get along?” But the Bible says, “What do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?” (2 Corinthians 6:14)
Sure, we are called to love everyone. But the most unloving thing you and I can ever do is not tell people the truth. Sin, of any kind, is an affront to a holy God, and the Bible is clear we can’t hang on to our sin and enjoy fellowship with God. (Psalm 1:1-6; 15:1-5; 66:18; Romans 6:22; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Ephesians 4:24; Hebrews 12:14)
Jesus said, “And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.” (John 3:19-20)
Society is the not the final arbiter on sin, wickedness or what is wrong. Scripture is. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12-13)
If your pastor won’t stand up for the truth of Scripture and instead, compromises God’s Word in an attempt to cater to the culture, find another church.
At Crossroads, we’re committed to loving everyone; we’re also committed to proclaiming the truth of God’s Word, because we love Him more.
