• MORE of the SAME or MORE Than Ever Before?

One of the more unique words in the Bible is the word MORE. You may not have noticed it that much, but it’s a pretty prominent word in Scripture. (It appears 584 times.)

For example, in Ephesians 3:20, it says, “Now to Him who is able to do far MORE abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us ...” Or how about Acts 5:14? “And MORE than ever believers were added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women ...”

Luke 15:7 says, “Just so, I tell you, there will be MORE joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Or, Hebrews 8:12, “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no MORE.”

Romans 5:9 says, “Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much MORE shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.” Or, how about Romans 8:37 which says, “No, in all these things we are MORE than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Or 2 Corinthians 4:15, “For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to MORE and MORE people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.”

Need MORE?

We have a Heavenly Father Who is MORE than able to provide for all of our needs; has given us the greatest guidebook for life in the Bible; has provided for our eternal salvation through the death of His own Son, Jesus Christ; has blessed us with families, friends and an incredible church family; has promised He will never leave us or forsake us; is currently preparing an eternal home for us that is literally out of this world; and that’s not all, He wants to do even MORE!!

What MORE could you want?

You know what God wants MORE than anything else in the world? He wants us. MORE of us. All of us. He wants us to spend MORE time with Him in His Word and in prayer. He wants us to discover how much MORE of Him there is and how much MORE He longs to do in our lives and how much MORE He wants to use and bless us.

So what will it be in the NEW YEAR? MORE of the same or MORE than ever before? The choice is yours. Will you repeat the same old, same old from last year and the years before, or will you love God and live for Him MORE than ever before? My prayer is we will commit ourselves to God like never before, so this NEW YEAR can be unlike any other year we’ve ever lived.

So what will it be in the NEW YEAR? MORE of the same? Or MORE than ever before? The choice is yours.

The apostle Paul encouraged the church in Thessalonica with these words, “Finally, then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, just as you are doing, that you do so MORE and MORE” (1 Thessalonians 4:1).

Let’s make 2020 a MORE-than-ever-before year at Crossroads!

Happy New Year!
