One of the more shocking statements I’ve ever read is this one from noted research expert, George Barna. “The results of years of research is clear on this point. Many people name Jesus as their savior, but relatively few have lives that consistently demonstrate that He is truly Lord of their hearts, minds and souls.”
An old proverb says, “If you chase two rabbits, both will escape.” Maybe that’s the reason why so many struggle to put JESUS first, and because there are so many other things vying for their time and attention they wind up wasting their lives on things that don’t really matter, while ignoring the ONE THING that really does.
Here’s how it works for me. When I put JESUS FIRST, it means I give Him …
• The FIRST place in my heart.
• The FIRST part of every day.
• The FIRST day of every week.
• The FIRST portion, the FIRSTfruits, of my income every week.
• The FIRST word in every decision.
• The FIRST priority in everything.
Because there are so many other things vying for their time and attention they wind up wasting their lives on things that don’t really matter, while ignoring the ONE THING that really does.
Why is it so hard for us to put JESUS first? Check out this video to find out:
Respected Pastor and current President of the Southern Baptist Convention, J.D. Greear said, “Our culture’s problem is not with Jesus as good man, a prophet, a teacher, or even as a deity. It’s with Jesus’s primary claim, that He is Lord.”
Maybe the reason more people don’t put JESUS first is simply because ... they don’t want to.
Here’s the best advice I can give you: “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
Put JESUS first and watch what happens!
